چکیده

The effect of magnetic anisotropy-axis alignment on the superparamagnetic (SPM) and superspin glass (SSG) states in a frozen ferrofluid has been investigated. The ferrofluid studied here consists of maghemite nanoparticles (γ-Fe2O3, mean diameter = 8.6 nm) dispersed in glycerine at a volume fraction of ~15%. In the high temperature SPM state, the magnetization of aligned ferrofluid increased by a factor varying between 2 and 4 with respect to that in the randomly oriented state. The negative interaction energy obtained from the CurieWeiss fit to the high temperature susceptibility in the SPM states as well as the SSG phase onset temperature determined from the linear magnetization curves were found to be rather insensitive to the anisotropy axis alignment. The low temperature aging behaviour, explored via ‘zero-field cooled magnetization’ (ZFCM) relaxation measurements, however, show distinct difference in the aging dynamics in the anisotropy-axis aligned and randomly oriented SSG states. Current controlled switching of impedance in magnetic conductor with tilted anisotropy easy axis and its applications

We present a concept and prototype of a memory element based on current driven magneto-impedance (MI) effect that stores the binary data (0, 1) as the orientation of the magnetization. The magnetization orientation in the surface layer with tilted anisotropy easy axis can be switched controllably between two stable states by applying current pulses of the appropriate sign, and can be detected b...

N ov 2 00 4 Controlling the exchange interaction using the spin - flip transition of antiferromagnetic spins in Ni 81 Fe 19 / α - Fe 2 O 3

We report studies of exchange bias and coercivity in ferromagnetic Ni81Fe19 layers coupled to antiferromagnetic (AF) (0001), (112̄0), and (110̄2) α-Fe2O3 layers. We show that AF spin configurations which permit spin-flop coupling give rise to a strong uniaxial anisotropy and hence a large coercivity, and that by annealing in magnetic fields parallel to specific directions in the AF we can control...

Magnetization depinning transition, anisotropic magnetoresistance and inplane anisotropy in two polytypes of La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 epitaxial films

The isothermal magnetoresistance [R(θ)] of [001] and [110] epitaxial films of La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 measured as a function of the angle θ between current (~ I) and magnetic field ( ~ H), both in the plane of the film, is measured at several temperatures between 10 and 300K. The magnetic easy axis of these polytypes is intimately related to the orientation of Mn O Mn bonds with respect to the crystallo...

Magnetic orientation and magnetic anisotropy in paramagnetic layered oxides containing rare-earth ions.

The magnetic anisotropies and easy axes of magnetization at room temperature were determined, and the effects of rare-earth (RE) ions were clarified for RE-based cuprates, RE-doped bismuth-based cuprates and RE-doped Bi-based cobaltite regarding the grain orientation by magnetic field. The easy axis, determined from the powder orientation in a static field of 10 T, depended qualitatively on the...
